Welcome to KSBL rules
Here you will find an outline of the rules and an idea of how the competition is run. If you are unsure on anything please speak to a teacher / judge on the day or e-mail Mr Horton prior to attending.
Routes will be set for the following categories:
* KS 4 Male
* KS 4 Female
* KS 3 Male
* KS 3 Female
Cheating Policy
This KSBL is unlike any other school competition, although teachers / judges will be within the vacinity of the event it would take many hours for them to score all competitors climbs. Therefore, there may be times when your attempts have to be scored by another pupil, preferably someone who does not know you! Ultimately this is a fun competition based on honesty and cheating will not be tolerated. If someone has suggested a pupil has cheated, then please approach a teacher / judge and raise the issue.

Bonus Points
Bonus points may be available on certain routes, if you successfully use these holds to complete a climb you will be awarded 1 additional point for successful completion. For example: you will be awarded 11 points for your first successful completion instead of 10 and so on.
Rules
You are free to touch any hold on any of the problems before the compeition starts from a standing position on the mats. Anyone seen climbing the problems before the competition starts will be counted as an attempt for that route.
You are allowed to clean the holds, but you must use other holds around the problem to gain access to the holds you wish to clean.
Screw heads in the wall plus T-nut holes are not in any of the problems and may not be used.
One or two hand holds will be marked as start holds (SS). One or two footholds will be marked as start holds (FF). The climber must not move towards the next hold until they have pulled onto the wall using the marked starting holds. If only one foot hold is marked then the other foot must be off the ground before you move towards the next hold.
The finishing hold must be held with both hands in control. Having one hand on the finishing hold and touching it with with the second hand whilst swinging off does not count.
Failed sit starts - if you try to pull on and all of your body has left the ground, however briefly, this will still count as an attempt.
Pupil's too short for a sit start - competitors must hang off with straight arms on the start holds if they cannot reach the holds whilst sat down.
